  I'm still not sure this happened.

  This Hawk swooped down off the statue in the courtyard of the Engineering-Physics building to catch this sky rat (pigeon). In bottom right picture, he was eyeing me pretty well, I think he wanted my hat if I went after his lunch.

  These guys like hopping around my front yard
  hunting down the birds in the late winter.

Cute Animals

• A Black Witch Moth - A bunch of these
  blew into Houston with the Hurricane Claudette.
  I found this female in the parking garage at work
  after lunch one day. Here is a Press Release about it.
  
• Sheep Crossing - in Texas you have to worry
  about all sorts of things crossing the road
  in front of you.
  
• Antelope with a few Windmills
  I took this picture on the scenic route
  around the McDonald Observatory.
  
• A bat that was flying around in the daylight,
  landed on the driveway, then crawled under
  the truck's tire
  
• cottontail-1 Cottontail Rabbit who didn't do a good job
  of hiding from me in the grass so I snuck up
  and got this picture from above.
  
• There are TONS of jackrabbits in West Texas.
  
• A moth colored white and yellow.
  
• A slew of yellow butterflies clinging to moisture.

• A Green Anole is a color changing lizard
  which can be found eating grasshoppers
  around east texas.
  
• A baby horny toad in a small cup for scale.
  
• This fellow was about the size of a dime and was
  discovered while mowing the yard.
  
• An adult male Lopaphus Caesius, aka Stick Bug.
  
• A squirrel in the late summer heat.
  
• A two-tone squirrel on a slab of granite.
  
• A Millipede which escaped the 80s.

Gefährliche Tiere

These are the cool ones with toxins and sometimes neurotoxins!

• An outdoor nest under a ledge at the Observatory, she has an Ironclad Beetle to feast upon.
  
• About 5 feet long, this bull snake spent some time under the bench.
  
• Yeah, he's dead, but it makes a neat picture still.
  
• Not much rain, but he didn't move from there until I upset him.
  
• A Texas Coral Snake I encountered while working in Conroe one afternoon.
  
• Another view of him slithering clumsily on the concrete to get away from me.

• Much to my surprise, he wasn't very squished after I had killed him.
  
• Haven't seen any red ants before? They're quite amusing to watch (much much much more amusing than television).
  
• This little guy was smashed the second time. Much smaller than the first but I didn't get a good picture of the first one. I picked him up with tape and realized he wasn't quite dead, so he got to drip poison on the tape while he awaited his destiny.
  
• He tried to get me by the bed when I woke up one morning.
  
• This was the first scorpion of the night. He was squished by my boot and was at least twice the size of the Second one.
