Not-So-Wild Life - These are/were pets on some level
Earl The Scorpion - A whole slew of pictures of Earl and stories too.
The excess of comments tends to butcher the sorting...
-
Roger as a Mouse pad - Here's the meow,
Roger, being used as a mousepad. In August
of 2002 I turned the picture into a mouse pad
so he is now used as a mouse pad recursively.
-
Rogers Kopf - A closeup of the cat who
is of legal driving age.
-
Roger on a Pillow - This is what happens,
when you leave cats in a cold room.
-
Skorpion Mk. II - This guy was around
a long time without a name.
-
Jake watches koi in the pond.

Gala the Tarantula - A lazy tarantula,
she has no hope of survival in the wild.

Jark in the Bathtub - Not quite fond of
the falling water or even the surrounding

-
Jark the baby Bearded Dragon
Eats baby crickets like the spider
in Sim Ant devours the ants.
-
Marvin the Amblypygid - A tailless
whip scorpion, he makes mad dashes
when you sneeze.
-
Marvin again - A picture of him
running sideways would also be impressive.

Hawk and his Prey
This Hawk swooped down off the statue
in the courtyard of the Engineering-Physics building to catch this sky rat (pigeon). In bottom
right picture, he was eyeing me pretty well, I think he wanted my hat if I went after his lunch.

A curious spot to relax on a hot day.

A Black Witch Moth - A bunch of these
blew into Houston with the Hurricane Claudette.
I found this female in the parking garage at work
after lunch one day. Here is a
Press Release about it.

Sheep Crossing - in Texas you have to worry
about all sorts of things crossing the road
in front of you.
-
Antelope with a few Windmills
I took this picture on the scenic route
around the McDonald Observatory.
-
A bat that was flying around in the daylight,
landed on the driveway, then crawled under
the truck's tire
-
cottontail-1
Cottontail Rabbit who didn't do a good job
of hiding from me in the grass so I snuck up
and got this picture from above.

Gefährliche Tiere
These are the cool ones with toxins and sometimes neurotoxins!
-
An outdoor nest under a ledge at the Observatory, she has an Ironclad Beetle to feast upon.
-
About 5 feet long, this bull snake spent some time under the bench.
-
Yeah, he's dead, but it makes a neat picture still.
-
Not much rain, but he didn't move from there until I upset him.
-
A Texas Coral Snake I encountered while working in Conroe one afternoon.
-
Another view of him slithering clumsily on the concrete to get away from me.
-

-

-
Much to my surprise, he wasn't very squished after I had killed him.
-
Haven't seen any red ants before? They're quite amusing to watch (much much much more amusing than television).
-
This little guy was smashed the second time. Much smaller than the first but I didn't get a good picture of the first one. I picked him up with tape and realized he wasn't quite dead, so he got to drip poison on the tape while he awaited his destiny.
-
He tried to get me by the bed when I woke up one morning.
-
This was the first scorpion of the night. He was squished by my boot and was at least twice the size of the Second one.
