Here is my collection of pictures from the years. I'll update this page frequently without mention so check back if you're interested. Most of the pictures are quite large since that's how they look best. I have thousands of more pictures, but these are probably the most interesting ones for now. Scroll through, or pick a topic.

Random Pictures

No real consistency on these pictures. Just a bunch of random pictures most of which are pretty neat.
Roger as a Mousepad - Here's my meow Roger being used as a mousepad. In August of 2002 I turned the picture into a mousepad, so he is now used as a mousepad recursively.
Portrait with a Waterfall - Started out to just take a picture of my friend setting up, but framed it well enough to make the waterfall he was next to look like glass hair.
Blacktron Scout - Some neat little Blacktron ship I made. It's had a huge lifespan compared to most of the other lego stuff I've had.
Grenztruppen Major Penguin - Penguin dressed as a Major in the Grenztruppen der DDR.
Penguin Officer - Here's an Officer in the Soviet Armored Corps ready for inspection.
4 Fedoras on the Rack - Here's my collection of Fedoras in use, just after I got the Akubra Federation, (Right gray).
The Hat Closet - All of my hats reside here, right next to the front door. I'm the only person I know who uses that closet properly.
Tan Fedora - Currently my best hat.
Serpentor - The absolute coolest Gi-Joe that exists.
Arrrr at the Burning Man Festival - Dino and Sara thought of me when they saw this sign there.
Afterburners - Here's me in front of the afterburners of a B-1B. Yay for 60,000 lbs of thrust for those two engines.
Cloud Attack - I got to work just in time to see this before it rained all day.
Glowing Vodka - This vodka is interacting nicely with the black light to make a nice glow... almost like Cherenkov Radiation. Further experiments with vodka and blacklights leads me to believe the label, and cheap plastic bottle of this vodka helped make a great picture. Glowing Stolichnaya clearly lacks the excessive glow from the bottle.
Death Chambers - Drew this in 6th grade, satisfied the ultra-violent needs of being 11 years old.
Wreck on Interstate 45 - This is what happens when people don't think the rain is a reason to slow down. Nobody was hurt from what I could tell, the cars were probably ok too. This was a Friday the 13th wreck too.
Mountains of Roubles - A pile of Russian, Kazak, and Uzbek currency.
KMFDM @ Numbers - My pictures from KMFDM's stop in Houston for their WWIII tour.
Candle Drip - This candle burned for about 3 hours before leaving us with this picture.
Lightning in Fort Worth - This was from a storm that crept up on the Hotel back in 1998.
Oil Rig - A night shot from the summer '04 in New Mexico.
Helmholtz Coil - The copper coils, create a uniform magnetic field, and with this experiment, bend a beam of electrons into a circle. See the pictures of me to see a picture of it in use.

Kent in images

Me at The Front - The front has poison gas, H2S. "The Front" being a 12,000 foot deep oil well.
A game of Chess - Playing chess on a hand carved chessboard from Germany.
Reflection from a Hard Drive - This one turned out pretty neat.
Abandoned Mines - An old one from 98 somewhere in Colorado.
Pilot's seat - A picture from January of 2000 at Mathis Field.
Walk to the Cessna - My brother took this shot the morning before the last picture which happened to pick up an awesome lense flare.
Reflection from the Penzoil Building - You can see 700 Louisiana St. along with a self-portrait of sorts.
Behind a Helmholtz Coil - A picture of me behind the circular electron beam inside a Helmholtz Coil.

Planes

Aircraft etc.
Wings Over Houston 2004 - From the yearly airshow in Houston.

Not So Wild Life

These are pets on some level.
Earl The Scorpion - A whole slew of pictures of Earl and stories too.
Omega about to crash - She's dropped the ball about a second before she crashes into my legs.
Rogers Kopf - A closeup of the cat who is of legal driving age.
Roger on a Pillow - This is what happens, when you leave cats in a cold room.
Gala the Tarantula - A lazy tarantula, she has no hope of survival in the wild.
Jark the Bearded Dragon - Eats baby crickets like the spider in Sim Ant eats the ants.

Wildlife

Wildlife of all shapes and sizes.
Hawk and his Prey - This Hawk swooped down off the statue in the courtyard of the Engineering-Physics building to catch this sky rat (pigeon). In bottom right picture, he was eyeing me pretty well, I think he wanted my hat if I went after his lunch.
Scorpion #1 - This was the first scorpion of the night. He was squished by my boot and was at least twice the size of the Second one.
Scorpion #2 - This little guy was smashed the second time. Much smaller than the first but I didn't get a good picture of the first one. I picked him up with tape and realized he wasn't quite dead, so he got to drip poison on the tape while he awaited his destiny.
Scorpion #3 - He tried to get me by the bed when I woke up one morning.
Texas Coral Snake #1 - A Texas Coral Snake I encountered while working in Conroe one afternoon.
Texas Coral Snake #2 - Another view of him slithering clumsily on the concrete to get away from me.
Robins in the front yard - These guys like hopping around my front yard hunting down the birds in the late winter.
A fleet of Robins - They have returned to my house for the winter of 2005.
Scissortail - Another interesting bird native to Texas.
Scissortail #2 - Sitting in the tree, almost posing for the picture.
Coiled Rattlesnake - Yeah, he's dead, but it makes a neat picture still.
Rattlesnake in the Rain - Not much rain, but he didn't move from there until I upset him.
A Black Witch Moth - A bunch of these blew into Houston with the Hurricane Claudette. I found this female in the parking garage at work after lunch one day. Here is a Press Release about it.
Sheep Crossing - Here in Texas you have to worry about all sorts of things crossing the road in front of you.
Antelope with a few Windmills - I took this picture on the Scenic route around McDonald Observatory.
Red Ants - Haven't seen any red ants before? They're quite amusing to watch (much much much more amusing than television).
Some sort of bat - A bat that was flying around in the daylight, and landed on the driveway before crawling up under the truck tire.
Cottontail Rabbit - He didn't do a good job of hiding from me in the grass so I snuck up and got this picture.
Jackrabbit - There are TONS of these in West Texas.
A flock of Hen Turkeys - Running away from me as you can tell.
A Green Anole - This color changing lizard can be found eating grasshoppers around east texas.
Baby Horny Toad - This fellow was about the size of a dime and was discovered while mowing the yard.
Baby Horny Toad in a Cup - Here it is in the cup to give a better idea of his size.
Stick Bug on the Window - Not sure if this is really a stick bug, but I have no other idea what to call him. My source who isn't completely certain about what it is says it looks like an adult male Lopaphus Caesius.

Buildings

These photos tend to be larger than the those on the rest of the page, sometimes in excess of 400K, so don't be suprised if you're on a slow connection.
Porter und Sixth - A beautiful Victorian home in Taylor, Texas.
The Baker Hotel - This hotel makes the skyline in Mineral Wells, Texas.
The Cactus Hotel - Tallest building in San Angelo, Texas. Opened in 1929 as one of the first Hilton hotels. I need to re-do this picture outside of a car.

Houston Pictures

Houston Skyline at Night - The lights of the skyline.
Houston Skyline in the Evening - Same view, but with sunlight.
Houston Skyline from the Chase Tower - About as clear as days around Houston get unfortunately.
700 Louisiana St. - I think this is the coolest building in downtown Houston. Also known as the Bank of America Center.
Bank of America Center Arch - A view of the arch from the Penzoil Plaza building.
The same great tower - this view, with a little bit of the street sign.
Once again, from down the street - I'm probably not done taking pictures of this Tower anytime soon.
Chase Tower - The world's tallest 5 sided building, whose 60th story hosts several of the other pictures of downtown I've taken.
Heritage Plaza - Formerly the Texaco building, this tower's pyramidal peak was inspired by the ancient Pyramids found on the Yucatán peninsula.
Heritage Plaza as seen from the Chase Tower - Partially eclipsed by One Shell Plaza, the white building.
712 Main - Another JP Morgan / Chase building, this one was completed in 1929 and the tallest building in Houston until 1963.
Calpine Center - This 2003 addition to Houston's skyline is right behind Jones Hall.
Mural Next to the Chase Tower - I need more info about this.
Niels Esperson Building and Chase Tower - A shot down Travis St. downtown.
Niels Esperson from the Chase tower - Doesn't look as tall from here.
Niels Esperson, street view - You can get a good view of the dome from here

Texas A&M Pictures

Moon over the Eller building - Early afternoon picture with the moon.
The Academic Building - Built in 19.. early something, I should read the plaque on the building before typing more.
The Eller and Administration Buildings - This is the current entryway to Texas A&M at the end of New Main Street.
Moon over the Physics Plaza - Here's the Moon at 5pm over the Engineering Physics Plaza at Texas A&M. Technically the moon is above the Richardson Building.

Desktop Screenshots

My Day to day computer happenings looked like this at some point.
Gnome2 on Sid - My first Gnome2 screenshot, shortly after my disasters with harddrives and upgrading to Sid.
Foolish .MAC - This is what happens when you try to sign up for .MAC demo with PPC Linux. (on a macintosh for those who don't know what PPC is)
Winamp 999 - Winamp about to rollover during an excessive tetris song session.(Also running in linux)
Winamp 1000 - Winamp rolls over at the 1000 minute mark.

McDonald Observatory

Pictures from my trip to visit the Observatory in 2003.
View of Mt. Locke - You can see the Otto Struve and Harlan Smith telescopes from below.
Otto Struve Telescope Dome - This dome houses the 2.1 meter telescope.
Hobby Eberly Telescope Dome - This whole complex houses the 9.2 meter Hobby eberly telescope which only costs about 15% of a normal full-sized telescope.
The Hobby Eberly Telescope from Mt. Locke - Taken from atop Mt. Locke, you can see the whole HET facility which is atop Mt. Fowlkes.
Hobby Eberly Mirror - This 9.1 meter array remains the 3rd largest in the world since it was built in 1997. It is primarily used for spectroscopy.
South from Mt. Locke - Looking southward from Mt. Locke, on clear days you can see the mountains in Mexico.
Looking into the Harlan Smith Telescope - This view shows the black inside of the telescope. The 2.7 meter mirror is covered while not in use.
The secondary mirror of the Harlan Smith - This mirror remains uncovered for this shot. Wonderfully polished it almost seems invisible in this picture.

Sky Pictures

Why take pictures of the ground when there is so much more in the sky?
I'm probably going to add a lot more astrophotography here soon.

Astrophotography

Partial Solar Eclipse - Solar eclipse from the A&M Astronomical Observatory on 8.4.05 a couple of minutes after the local peak coverage. This was taken through a Questar Standard 3.5" telescope with a solar filter.
Half Moon - Taken through an 8" telescope, this is my first attempt at such a feat, which turned out fantastically.
Animation of the Eclipse on 10.27.04 - Animation of 181 frames taken through 10x25 binoculars of the previously mentioned eclipse.
Different Zooms of a full Moon - I took the left picture through a pair of pocket sized binoculars and the second through the 3x optical zoom of my camera.
Lunar Eclipse of May 15, 2003 - My first eclipse photography experiment. Nothing is really consistent in the camera settings, so it's pretty tough to make anything from it other than the colage.
Waxing Crescent Moon - Same night again, only the moon this time. Also conveniently sized for an avatar.
Jupiter, Ganymede, Io, and Europa - Jupiter in the middle, the moons from left to right. Taken through an eight inch telescope.
The Orion Nebula - A fairly dim shot of the Orion Nebula, I have to work on the levels to see much of the cloud.
Weeks later!
Saturn through the 16inch - Two different exposures of Saturn, where the Cassini division in the rings is also visible.
The Whirlpool Galaxy - Messier Object 51, taken through a 90mm telescope with a CCD camera.

Sky-Based

The Moon and Venus at Sunset - You can see the nice crescent of the moon in this picture. It looked neater the previous night with Venus just to the right of the Moon and an even smaller crescent.
Same view - This picture has Venus show up better.
Quarter Moon in the Clouds - Neat effect with the pink clouds of from the sunset.
Moon over the Observatory - This is on the Eller Building at A&M, which houses the observation deck for the Meteorologists.
West TX #1 - The sun is just about to set.
West TX #2 - The clouds have a fantastic ripple.
Windmill Sunrise - There's a nice landscape along with this view.
Pink Clouds - Clouds in the distance for a sunset near Hobbs, New Mexico.
A&M Observatory #1 - Astronomy work makes for plenty of time to see plenty of fantastic sunsets.

Tools of the Trade

Currently working with a Canon A620. I couldn't resist the 1cm Macro mode.
A Sony DSC-P8 digital still camera is my primary source of images. Before this, I would pretty much only take pictures if I borrowed a camera. Having taken more than 5000 pictures in less than 17 months, I would be broke if I did that kind of thing with a normal film-based camera. The best thing about this camera, is it's smaller than my cell phone. I find this to be a much better item to have with me all of the time when compared to a phone, which causes trouble in many situations.

This seems like a good spot for these exceptional sites.
